Communication officer - NGO marketing (Pre-employment internship 6 months fixed-term contract)

KAGEDEV Cameroon is an association that promotes access to education and training for Cameroonians. In addition to its own initiatives, KAGEDEV Cameroon supports local actors in the design, development, and implementation of education projects. The goal is to strengthen capacities and promote the autonomy of populations (communities, parents, teachers, etc.) so that they can become sustainable actors in their own lives and responsible citizens.

job description

  • Develop and execute the editorial calendar across website, social media platforms, and newsletters.
  • Produce content (written materials, visuals, short videos) and manage its dissemination.
  • Engage and manage online communities while moderating interactions.
  • Establish awareness/recruitment campaigns (beneficiaries, partners).
  • Manage media relations, including press releases, press kits, and interviews.
  • Track key performance metrics (audience, engagement, lead generation) and recommend improvements.
  • Support events (logistics communication, live coverage, reports). Ensure brand/message alignment with the KAGEDEV mission and charter.

required profile

  • Perfect mastery of English and French (non-negotiable condition).
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of higher education (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree) in Communication, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
  • First experience in digital communication (internship, volunteering, freelance).
  • Strong commitment to the non-profit sector and social impact.
  • Excellent writing skills in French; English.

Skills / Knowledge

  • Social media (Meta, LinkedIn, WhatsApp/Telegram), emailing, and CMS (basics).
  • Sense of branding, storytelling, and monitoring.
  • Basic knowledge of reporting (KPIs: reach, engagement, conversion).
  • Office suite (Docs/Sheets/Slides); knowledge of Canva or equivalent.
  • Bonus: basics in short video editing or photography.

Working conditions.

  • Workplace: KAGEDEV Cameroon – Douala, Bonamoussadi
  • Working hours: 47.5 h / week
  • Internship compensation: 50,000 XAF / month + performance bonus
  • Development :Direct hiring on a fixed-term contract at the end of the internship, subject to satisfactory results


Principales missions

To voice KAGEDEV Cameroon, promote our programs, and enhance our reputation with our audiences (beneficiaries, partners, media) through coherent, measurable, and results-oriented multichannel communication.

The missions of the communication officer of the association mainly involve:

  • Developing the message to be communicated and the various communication actions, in line with the association's strategy and the targeted objectives
  • Monitoring the proper implementation of communication campaigns
  • Acting as an interface between the association and its various stakeholders (media, decision-makers, the general public, members, donors, partners)
  • Developing a network of partners, particularly journalists, who will help effectively relay its communication actions
  • Ensuring the visibility of the association at events.
